Antoine Pierini will exhibit a selection of « Dunes » during the prestigious international exhibition of the Glass Art Society, St Petersburg, Florida, USA – march 2019

In March 2019, Antoine Pierini will be in St Petersburg, Florida (USA) to attend the annual conference of the Glass Art Society, one of the most expected and prestigious meeting for the professionals of glass worldwide.

The three day’s conferences will also be the opportunity for the artist to present one of his sculpture installation “Dunes”, which was selected for a temporary exhibition at the Morean Arts Center.

The membership of the Glass Art Society is over 2,200 from 47 countries around the world. The purpose of this international non-profit organization, founded in 1971, is to encourage excellence, to advance education, to promote the appreciation and development of the glass arts, and to support the worldwide community of artists who work with glass.

By selecting the work of Antoine Pierini, the international selection committee acknowledged the excellence of a craftsmanship combined with a research of technical and esthetical innovations.

The glass installation “Dunes” is made of 9 modular pieces. The concave shapes of the glass sculptures are freely inspired from sand dunes that Antoine Pierini had observed during a trip to the Tunisian Desert.

The sand is transformed into colourful forms of transparent or opaque black glass, sometimes spotlighted by transparent glass “dunes” with golden brass. The mat or glossy surfaces combine textures effects that recall the movement of the wind and its action on sand.

The group exhibition “Visions in Glass: works by Glass Art Society’s Member’s” will run March 9 – April 26, 2019 at the Morean Arts Center/Glass Studio:
719 Central Avenue St Petersburg, Florida, USA
